Introduction
Mansha Yaad was born in a small village near Farukabad, District Sheikhupura, Pakistan on 5th September
1937. His father Haji Nazir Ahmed was a farmer and Hakeem. He passed his Matriculation examination in 1955 from M.B.High
Hafizabad with Drawing & Science subjects & obtained Diploma in Civil Engineering from Government School of Engineering
Rasul. He joined PWD rehabilitation Division Rawalpindi
in 1958 as Sub Engineer. As he had literary taste from the childhood he started writing stories for children magazines when
he was student of seventh class. He joined Capital Development Authority in 1960 and passed Fazil e Urdu and Intermediate
examination in 1964,B.A in 1965,M.A (Urdu) in 1967 and M.A (Punjabi) in 1972 from University of the Punjab.
After serving the Authority as Junior and Senior Engineer(Executive Engineer),Chief Complaints Officer and Public Relations
Officer he retired in 1997. He was married in Lahore to his
second cousin Farhat Nasim Akhtar in 1960. He has one daughter and three sons. His eldest son Farrukh jamil and daughter Noma
Shabnum are teachers. The third one Amer Shakil is Physician and serving as professor in Medicines in Dallas
.The youngest son Kashif Naveed is working as a manager in a private firm in Islamabad.
Mansha Yaad founded Halqa Arbab e Zauq Islamabad, the first literary organization
in capital city in 1972. He also founded some other literary orginazation such
as Likhay Walon Ki Anjuman, Rabta and Bazam e Kitab enriching the newly built city literarily. His first short story was published
in1955. Thereafter he has been continuously contributing Urdu and Punjabi stories to literary magazines. He has by now published
9 collection of short stories, one Punjabi novel. Many single plays and TV serials are also at his credit.He is living in
Islamabad and taking active part in promotion of fiction and
literary activity. He is also writing an Urdu novel and autobiography. Besides many awards from various literary organizations
on meritorious services rendered by him in literature,he has been awarded Presidential Award “Pride of Performance”in
2004.
